Ok, today I was prepared! I knew that if the phone rang, I would say “Necessito Internet”, the heck with this “I don’t speak Spanish” stuff, I was getting down to the real need. So about 9:30, we get the “blessed” phone call. All I said was my key phrase of “I need internet”!!! He says something and I recognize the word ‘hoy” (today). I was just so excited. So I tried to say “What time”. All I could think of was “cuanto es”. Well that wasn’t “What time is it”, that was “How much”. Darn, get my key phrases mixed up, but I am trying!! Anyway, the guy came in just a few minutes and we have our internet. It only took since June 18th when the order was placed, and constant phone calls by the church secretary (bless her heart again!!!!) for a week to get this accomplished. She is amazing. There are just some people that I will be forever indebted to. She has won my heart and I will be her personal computer assistant!
Another funny story. The night we got here we were dead tired, starving, and had to go find food, having not eaten since breakfast. I needed shampoo as I couldn’t waste any of my 50 allocated pounds on shampoo (well except for the dog’s and I don’t want to try new products on my dog). So refusing to purchase anything but Hispanic products (hey, I am NOT going to be that “American” that has to have my name brands), I grabbed some shampoo. I realized later that it didn’t “work”, because I had gotten conditioner rather than shampoo. I was relying on the pictures on the bottle. So being desperate to wash my hair I had nothing to use other than Ace’s shampoo! Oh well, my husband said I didn’t need to worry about fleas that day.
