Monday afternoon July 5, 2010

Now I understand the term “rainy season”. Guess that from May to November it is rather wet here. So far our morning walks haven’t been interrupted (thank goodness). But, the downpours during the day! It certainly isn’t a cold rain, for sure. The overcast skies can be a blessing when outdoors exercising. And I love the walking here. The park has a par course obviously made just for me. But the tropical weather is rotting the wood and it hasn’t been maintained.
The internet provider FINALLY called us today. They mumbled something in Spanish and I said, “No hablo, Espanol” (I speak no Spanish), they mumbled something else and I did hear the word “internet”. I said “no comprendo” (I don’t understand). They mumbled again in Spanish (however, they could have been speaking perfect Spanish) and then hung up. I called the church secretary, who has been a real blessing in all this. So she called the internet company and they said the problem was fixed and the order was closed. I guess a one-sided phone call and no personal visit solved the problem. ARGGGG. The work order for installation has been closed several times and still they have never been here!! This country needs some customer service training. But, then I need some Spanish training! After the secretary called again, the internet company called back! Once again I said “No hablo Espanol”, the gal said “gracias” and hung up. PLEASE, have an English speaking person call!!! I want my internet. Cable is on order, but I don’t expect that for weeks the way this system works. We just have 3 channels and they are all in Spanish. I try to listen for a word that I “might” understand. Haven’t heard one yet.
